Vinnie Paz: Season of The Assasin

Vinnie Paz, the lyricist behind "Jedi Mind Tricks", branched out from his partner in crime beat maker Stoupe the Enemy of Man Kind to release a solo project. The sound is similar to what you expect to hear from a Jedi Mind Tricks album with a few additional surprises in the from of unexpected guest appearances. Also, due to the absence of Stoupe, Vinnie actually had to get original hooks for most of his tracks as opposed to using old school hip hop samples, which is one of the major pitfalls of the album. Lyrically, Paz delivers the usual raw and gritty punchlines like his did in the past, which makes the album a solid effort. Here is a track by track breakdown of the album as well as a download link.

Beautiful Love: With a great beat and punchlines like “I'm feeling myself like a chronic masturbate”, this song is a great opener for the album

Monster’s Ball: Here Vinnie spits his murderous rage over a beat that would make even someone like Common start a fight. I can picture Ron Artest listening to this song right before a game.

Pistovania featuring Freeway and Jakk Frost: A disappointing Philly collaboration. Jakk Frost is whack and Freeway just did the verse to promote his album "The Stimulus Package". Would have been better with Cassidy on it.

End of Days: This is an Illuminati type of track that covers many conspiracy theories, mainly the one about the government using the social media to control our thought process. In the opening verse Vinnie spits "everybody’s a slave, only some are aware, that the government releasing poison into the air". Sounds extreme but gives you something to think about.

Righteous kill: Classic Vinny. Raw gritty rhymes

No Spiritual Surrender: Another Vinny song in which he states his religious views with the help of metaphors and punchlines

Street Wars Feat Clipse: A song about selling cocaine. I thought Vinny would be smart enough not to profile like that, FEDS ARE WATCHING. But anyways, first verse (Malice)was a force, second verse (Vinnie) not enticing, third verse (Pusha T) saves the song. Definitely one of the weakest points of the album

Aint shit changed: This is a heartfelt track in which Vin talks about his current relationships with the people around him.

Aristotle’s Dilemma: This is the best production on the album, except the hook is impossible to understand.

Kill Em All feat Beanie Sigel: Another low point of the album. Beanie and Paz put together two throw away verses that combine into a throw away track

Keep Movin’ On: It was kind of surprising hearing an R&B verse on a Vinnie Paz track, but he makes it work. In the song he talks about hardships of having a dead end job, his own struggles with getting signed and maintaining fame, and what it's like to be a veteran returning from a war.

Brick wall feat. Ill Bill and Demoz: This track has an AOTP feel to it. This is one of the collabos that comes as no surprise. Ill Bill and Demoz contribute some good verses. Also, there are rumors that Vin and Ill Bill are planning a collaboration album.

Role of Life: This track sounds more like a freestyle. Its like Lil Wayne spitting with Vinnie Paz's thought process

Nosebleed feat R.A. the Rugged Man: R.A. the Rugged man contributes one of the most memorable verses of the album

Warmonger: Produced by Lil Fame of MOP. This is a track that should have never been made. This song stands out as another lackluster effort when compared to the rest of the album.

Paul and Paz feat Paul Wall: WOW! definitely did not see that one coming. Paul Wall contributes a decent verse with a Ghetto Boys type of flow. The track is good, but it sounds like it should have been left on Paul Wall's album

Bad Day: This songs is basically the opposite of Ice Cube's "It Was a Good day”. This is a nice showcase of Vinnie's versatility.

Washed In The Blood Of The Lamb: Another nice stream of conscience rap.

Drag you to hell: Good use of the Sticky Fingaz sample.

Same Story: For the past few project, Vinnie reserved the last song on the album to talk about his family. This one is about his step father. Good way to close the album.
